It was established on November 14, 2023, by the President of the Alliance, the Vice President, and the Secretary General, who are ex-officio members. The office also includes members of the General Secretariat or the General Assembly as needed, and is headed by the President of the Alliance to oversee developments related to the Syrian situation and shape the Alliance’s political direction accordingly.

Main Responsibilities of the Political Office:

The main responsibilities of the Political Office within the Syrian Democratic Alliance include several key tasks:

  • Issuing statements and taking political positions that reflect the Alliance’s vision.
  •  Reviewing proposals from the Follow-up Committee regarding political documents after their completion.

Key Challenges Faced by the Political Office and How They Were Overcome:

Like other offices within the Alliance, the Political Office faces several challenges in its work, including:

  •  Rapid changes in local, regional, and international situations impacting the Syrian issue.
  • The lack of full-time commitment from office members, as they are spread across various time zones.
  • Difficult working conditions preventing some members from attending meetings.
  •  Poor internet connectivity for some members.
  • Delays in issuing statements or positions on time.
  • Low attendance and participation in meetings from some members.

These challenges were addressed by holding meetings with the members present and sending formal reminders to inactive members regarding their responsibilities.

The Political Office contributes to the achievement of the Alliance’s goals through the following:

  1. Establishing the office’s structure and general guidelines for its operations, ensuring daily interactions and discussions in the chat group, and holding intensive meetings.
